Harvesting Camellia tea is a labor intensive job that requires long hours walking the tea rows using your hands to pluck the tea leaves. Most tea plots are harvested only by hand to maintain high quality but this presents pain points for the worker. These problems congregate in one area: the plucking and transporting of tea leaves.
Camellia Crib is a harvesting basket that brings a more comfortable experience to those longs days of plucking. Ease of use, harvest health, and user comfort were the three areas of focus for the solution.
Protect the goods.
Wrinkled and smashed leaves can affect the end product drastically. The baskets rigid body paired with soft materials creates necessary protection for the delicate harvest.
Easy access.
The ‘always open’ system structures the basket with thin steel bands creating a flexible top opening, always ready to receive plucked leaves. The bottom velcro flap allows the user to dump the current harvest without removing the basket.
Carry and Comfort.
Hip straps and height adjustment. Placing the weight at the hips makes for easier days bending over and reaching high, while shorter individuals can use the shoulder straps to bring the basket higher up to the chest.
